Testing Options
There are a number of options that are listed at the W#C site at http://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tools/complete.php . The number can be overwhelming but with this large number comes a good variety in how the tools operate, how they present results and costs associated with the use of each tool.
Wikipedia can also be a great resource for new products: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_accessibility
For a review of free accessibility tools. WebAIM has developed a nice article at www.webaim.org/techniques/articles/freetools/
Some of the better known commercial or paid options include:
- WAVE
- UsableNet: http://www.usablenet.com/
- JAWS: http://www.freedomscientific.com/
Captioning Tools
- Media Access Generator (MAGpie) is a free tool developed by CPB/WGBH National Center for Accessible Media for creating captions and audio descriptions for rich media.
- HiCaption, a captioning tool is a component of AccVerify that must be installed separately.
